AIT Special Session at African Aquaculture Safari Conference, Entebbe, Uganda: Better Fish, Smarter Farms, Skilled People – Resilient Aquaculture in Sub-Saharan Africa for Brighter Futures
The AIT-African Aquaculture Project, in collaboration with key partners, announces to host a Special Session at the upcoming African Aquaculture Safari 2025 Conference organized by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) African Chapter in Entebbe, Uganda.
Aquaculture holds immense potential to transform food systems, livelihoods, and economic development across Sub-Saharan Africa. This session explores an integrated approach to resilient aquaculture—focusing on the genetic improvement of fish for higher yields and better body quality; innovations in culture environments, including feed, water, and health management; and the crucial role of people in driving change. We will highlight the importance of talent development, gender-responsive training, and inclusive participation to ensure that aquaculture growth is both sustainable and equitable. Join us as we delve into the science, systems, and skills shaping the future of aquaculture in Africa.
This session will focus on the transformative impact of genetic improvement, feed optimization, and health management in aquaculture across Africa. With a line-up of distinguished speakers and practitioners, the session will explore practical innovations and success stories from the continent.
